Chapter One :Chapter 1

Ava was sitting in front of her desk and was researching, on her laptop about business stats, for her university assignment with her headphones on.

The door opened behind her and her mother came inside her room.

“Ava.” Her mother called her.

She didn’t hear her.

“Ava!” Her mother called again.

Ava took off her headphones and looked back at her mother.

“You called?” She asked.

“Yes. Will you deliver the food, if you’re not so busy?” Her mother asked.

“What happened to the guy who usually delivers the food?” She asked.

“He’s at the hospital because his mom was feeling sick.”

“What about my lazy brother?” she asked.

Her mother glanced at a huddled figure on the sofa and didn't say anything.

Ava understood immediately. She did her best to restrain her anger, but still kicked her lazy brother, who was sleeping, in the ass anyway.

"What the fuck is wrong with you!" The lazy brother almost jumped up.

"Delivery task." Ava replied, "It's your turn."

The lazy brother rolled his eyes at her, "Go away!I have my own business to mind, can't you help YOUR family share a little of the so-called tasks?"

Huh, the only "business" he was responsible for was sleeping!

Ava tried to argue with him, but her mother pulled her back.

Her mother shook her head a little.

“What about dad?” Ava asked.

“Your dad’s cranky.”

Ava sighed frustrated.

“Why are all the men in this house so lazy? This is exactly why Eva left.” She said getting angry.

“Don’t let your dad hear that. You’ll be in big trouble.” Her mother told her.

“I’m not wrong, mom. He literally does nothing in the house to help. All he does is discourage me and you, when we do all the work. It’s not fair. They don’t even do the heavy lifting around the house.” Ava told her.

"And why do you always have so many damn complaints?" Her dad's low and cranky voice rang out behind her.

Ava swallowed, she didn't expect her dad to appear out of nowhere.

Ava's words were stopped by her dad's frightening aura.

His dad stormed out, "Do you know why you're 28 years old and still single? Just because you're always looking for freedom and fairness, and no man would like a woman like YOU! You're always making excuses for your laziness!"

'My laziness?' Ava mentally sneered at her father's words.

The truth was, all her time was dedicated to this family! But still, the men in her family never thanked or even respected her, they only treated her like a servant!

“Will you deliver the food or not?” her mother asked sighing.

“May the men in our house burn to death.” She cursed as she got up.

“Ava.” Her mother warned.

“Stupid idiots.” She mumbled walking out.

Ava got her bicycle while her mother gave her the food for delivery.

“Here are the addresses.” Her mother gave her a list.

“Mom! There are five places I have to deliver!” She told her with a troubled frown on her forehead.

“Please, dear. Only for one day.” Her mother told her.

She sighed and rode went away.

“If I get bad grades this semester then I’m leaving home. I worked so hard to get the scholarship and I’m not going to throw it away for them.” She said as she rode the bike down the hill.

She made almost all her deliveries and only had one last delivery to make. She was about to cross the road when a car sped up to her. The car slowed down but by the time it came to a stop, it collided against her with just enough force to make her fall off the bike.

She fell off her bike and to the road. Her palm, elbow and knee got scratched against the road and started bleeding. She winced as she felt the burning sensation from her wounds.

Ray got out of his car and looked at the Porsche for any damages. He saw a scratch under the headlight.

“Hey, you. You scratched my car with your bike. You have to pay for the damage.” He told her.

She looked at him angrily because she was the one who got hurt more.

She got up from the road.

“You’re the idiot who drove the car while the street light turned red.” She told him angrily.

“It was still yellow when I was driving and I would’ve made past it if you didn’t get in my way.” He told her.

She looked at him speechless.

“I’m the one who got wounded by you!” She told him raising her voice.

Ray looked at her and saw her bleeding keen and elbow.

“Fine. I’ll pay for your damage and you pay for mine.” He told her.

She looked at him wondering if he dropped his brain in the gutter.

He took out his wallet and took out twenty hundred dollar notes. He held it out to her. She looked at him annoyed and slapped his hand away.

“What? Because you’re rich you think you can give me money and walk away?"

"Huh? I didn't say th--"

"Enough!" Ava cut him off, "You rich people are just as worse as my dad! ” She yelled at him.

"You are all trapped by money! You are all slaves to money! Tell me, do you still keep your true color? I can guess that you guys can betray anything for money! Stupid rich people!"

As if Ava had found an outlet, her emotions exploded uncontrollably.

Looking at her, Ray was stunned for a moment. Somehow, her every word reminded him of his current situation - a rich young master trapped by his wealthy family.

He was surrounded by people who only praised him and fawned over him, which gave him the pressure that he couldn't make any mistakes or show any resistance. But this woman...her words struck him like a hammer and suddenly awakened his lost mind.

She was different from the others, Ray thought. And it was hard for him not to be curious about her.

After the outburst, Ava picked up her bike and limped away with it. He grabbed her arms and stopped her.

“You need to pay for the damage you did to my car.” He told her.

She tried to contain her anger.

“How much for the damage?” she asked getting impatient with him.

“80,000$ but since you also got injured I’ll give you a discount. Now you have to pay 50,000$.” He told her.

She clenched her fists.

“Sure, you can sell my organ and have the money because I don’t have that much money.” She told him and yanked her hand away.

“Hey, talk nicely or else.” He told her with a scowl on his face.

“Or else what? You’re just a bully.” She told him and walked away from him.

He got in his car and started following her. She got annoyed and stopped. He also stopped his car beside her. She looked at him furiously and started walking again.

“Fucking rich bastard.” She cursed.

She went to her last delivery stop and gave the delivery.

“What the hell is this?” the man asked.

The food inside the box was all messed up.

“I’m sorry, sir. There was an acc-“

“I don’t give a damn! I gave you money to give me food in one piece, not this waste!” he said and threw it at her face, “Get the fuck away from me, you moron.”

He slammed the door on her face.

She looked at the door angrily and started tearing up. She picked up the food from the ground and threw it in a nearby trash can. She wiped the tears away from her cheeks but new ones replaced them.

She looked up at the sky and started breathing deeply while counting till ten. She stopped crying as she counted the last number and walked away.

“I’m surrounded by the world’s worst men.” She said in a low tone.

She noticed that the guy was still following her in his car. She turned around having enough.

“What the fuck is wrong with you? Leave me alone!” she shouted out loudly.

“I’m not leaving until we settle this.” Ray deliberately said so, from inside the car.

And he knew it was the only excuse he could entangle himself with her at the moment.

Yep, he wanted to be close to Ava, the woman who was sooo special to him.
